The Gamma Tau Chapter
Established on April 28th, 1934, the Gamma Tau chapter of Sigma Chi continuously strives to foster and preserve high academic standings; train undergraduates in leadership responsibility and instill the ideal of good citizenship; stimulate participation in college programs and develop close cooperation between membership and college officials, faculty, and other student organizations; and provide an environment of brotherhood for the achievement of purposeful living on the North Dakota State University Campus.
Guiding principles
The guiding principles of our chapter are Personal Development, and High Ambition. We believe that these two principles are the qualities that are most prominent in our chapter, and also what lead us to be great men.

The Peterson Significant Chapter Award, sponsored annually by the Sigma Chi Foundation, is the highest honor that the Fraternity bestows upon an undergraduate chapter. Named for 38th Grand Consul J. Dwight Peterson, INDIANA 1919. The award recognizes excellent, but not impossible, performance by chapters in all major areas of operation and programming. For many years, the Peterson plaque has been a symbol of dedication, idealism, and achievement.
There is no minimum or maximum number of chapters that may win the award in any given year. Award criteria is assigned on an objective scale and encompasses the entire gamut of chapter activities; from financial stability and recruitment, chapter and member reputation, to ritual and initiation performance. Because chapter operations vary among campuses and chapters, members of each chapter measure themselves against these absolute Sigma Chi standards, rather than against other chapters.
This year NDSU's Gamma Tau chapter earned the J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Blue Award. The Blue award is presented to chapters that scored between 90-96.99 percent on their annual reports.
